Garita del Diablo

La Garita del Diablo was a sentry box who has a leyend behind it. This sentry box is caled Garita del Diablo or Devil sentry box because one night one sentinel disappeared from the sentry box. The leyend goes on telling you about what happened that night at the sentry box. Today it is still said that in the night, you can hear a guitar or laughter. This guitar and laughter are from Diana and Flor who were the protagonist of the story and that they are making fun of the ones who made up the story of La Garita de Diablo. 

Galería Nacional

It is located next to the San José church. It was built in the 16^th century as a Dominican convent.  Today it is a museum of Puerto Rican paintings from the 18^th century to the 1960s. 

Fuerte San Gerónimo

The fort is located in the grounds of the Hotel Caribe Hilton. It was constructed in the 1580s by Governor Diego Menendez to defend the bay in Boquerón. The fort is in need of extensive renovations and visits are not allowed.  

Escuela de Artes Plásticas

This building is located next to the San Felipe del Morro Fort. It was originally used as an insane asylum and briefly as a jail.  In 1976 it was reopened as a school or art and design. 

Escalinata de la Monjas

These stairs are located behind the Hotel El Convento, which used to be a convent from the order of the Carmelites. 

Centro de Estudios Avanzados de Puerto Rico y el Caribe

The Centro de Estudios Avanzados de Puerto Rico y el Caribe is located on Cristo Street #52. It is currently a university center for graduate studies focusing on all aspects of Puerto Rican culture. It was founded in 1976 by Dr. Ricardo Alegría in a historical building that used to be the Conciliar de San Ildefonso seminary.  

Teatro Tapia

El Teatro Tapia is located in la Calle Fortaleza in front of Plaza de Colón. The theater was inagurated in 1832 and was designed by José Navarro y Herrero, this is the most antique theater in all of Puerto Rico.
